Searching the NExpress online catalog in a few easy steps:
Basic Search
- Enter Search terms
- Limit to Ottawa Library (on the left sidebar) to see our holdings
- Click on Title to see availability
Advanced Search
- Can limit to Item Types (like dvds)
- And/or select a specific library
If you do not find the item you are looking for, we can often borrow it from another library for you.
To request an item you can:

Interlibrary Loan FAQs:
Q. Is there a charge for the service?
A. The search for an interlibrary loan item always begin within the state. There is no charge for any materials borrowed within the state. There is a $1.50 fee to cover insurance for materials borrowed from outside the state, and the library will check with you before pursuing this.
Q. How long will it take to come in?
A. This varies a lot depending on where the item is located, whether it is checked out at the first location, etc. But generally, about two weeks is average.
Q. How long can I keep an interlibrary loan item?
A. Again, this varies as the lending library determines the due date, but generally about three weeks.
Q. What happens if I am late returning it?
A. A late fine is charged.
Q. Where do I make an interlibrary loan request?
A. Make requests at either the Reference Desk, the Circulation Desk, or by telephone.
Q. What information needs to be on the form?
A. The more information you can include, the better. Author, title, date of publication if available is helpful. To request a photocopy of a magazine article, include page numbers, full date of magazine as well as the title of the article and author.
Q. How many interlibrary loan requests can I make?
A. You may request up to five items at a time.
Q. Can I renew an interlibrary loan?
A. No, we must return the item to the lending library using the due date they give us. The item may be re-requested in a few weeks if you wish.
